Description
When the Aalayam team visited this student’s home, the volunteers found that the 150-sq.foot house lacked even a proper roof. Every rainy season, the family struggles to cope.
Despite the difficult home environment, the student and his older brother have managed to complete their schooling. While the older brother is pursuing a diploma course, the younger one has started an engineering degree with fee assistance from the government’s first graduate scheme in a Kanyakumari college. The student completed his schooling while working part-time in a bakery. He was forced to start working even as a teenager because his father has alcohol addiction. The students live with their father and grandmother.
Aalayam will support the student with a sum of Rs. 20000 toward his bus and book fees.
